As a documentary maker, Paula Damasceno has worked in Brazil, Germany, France, Vietnam, Mexico, and United States, executing the roles of  director, project designer, grant writer, researcher, producer, videographer and editor.

Works that she has participated and made on her own have been screened at the MoMa, in New York, the Weatherspoon Museum, in North Carolina and at the Docstown International Documentary Film Festival, in Mexico.

Her independent work has been granted awards  in 2012 by the North Carolina Humanities Council, in 2010 and 2012 by the Culture Secretary of the State of Bahia, in 2011 by the Cultural Foundation of Bahia State.

Short documentary about the Carolina Theatre of Greensboro. It is a result of an Artistic Residency in ELSEWHERE in collaboration with The Carolina Theater and The Civil Rights Center and Museum.
Project selected by The North Carolina Humanities Council. 
Project selected by Mobility Artistic Culture Secretariat of the State of Bahia Grant.
Screened at the North Carolina Film and Video Festival 2014.

2012 ​- SOUNDLAB PROJECT - Greensboro/NC - Sep/Oct . Videographer and editor.

Elsewhere  collaborate project with artist group INVISIBLE, Weaver High School, and Guilford College on SoundLAB, a mobile visual artwork and instrument composed of obsolete technology. SoundLAB will provide a collaborative space for students to explore the role technology plays in daily life through experiments in digital storytelling and performance. The project launches September 5 and will culminate with a performance at Weaver Fest on October 5th at 6pm in Festival Park, downtown Greensboro. Video of the XI Azoany March held annually on August 16, 2009 by a group of people linked to Candomblé and the Catholic Church, who decided to march from  the Pelourinho to the Church of St. Lazarus, to celebrate the feast of St. Lazarus and Azoany (Omolú Obaluaê ), to honor and fulfill promises in gratitude.

Project selected by Call Mobility Artistic Culture Secretary of the State of Bahia. Result of a 3 month Artistic Residency at La Casa Del Tunel, in Tijuana, BC, Mexico.
Screened to the whole community at the the end of the Residency,  as way to provide a collective reflection and in gratitude for the shared memories and stories,

UTOPIA AND BARBARISM 
Directed by: Silvio Tendler, 2009 Brazil, Audio Language: Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, Italian.
"Utopia and Barbarism" is a road movie that crossed the entire historic 15 countries: France, Italy, Spain, Canada, USA, Cuba, Vietnam, Israel, Palestine, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Uruguay, Venezuela and Brazil. In each of these places, Tendler documented the protagonists and witnesses of the history of the twentieth century.
In the paintings, the documentary moves through some of the most controversial episodes in recent history, as the bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Holocaust, the October Revolution, the year 1968 in the world (Brazil, France, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, among others), Operation Condor, the fall of the Berlin Wall and the explosion of liberalism more cannibal that history has ever known.

The years that came after the 2nd Great War were marked by the confrontation of ideologies and radical changes all around the globe, the most radical of them was the Chinese Revolution. Then appeared a group that wasn't allied to neither US nor the Soviets. The fight for the freedom in the Asian, African, Middle Eastern and Latin American colonies influenced politics all around the world. All around the globe there were uprisings. The film portraits those that lived and studied this events.

Video Biography of Paulo Carneiro, Brazil's representative to UNESCO and participated in the formulation of policies and implementation of relief projects, as a member of the Executive Council of the Organization. He stands out for having articulated broadly and profitable projects that contemplated global demands with local interests in the areas of the UNESCO. Through the study of its history, one can understand a face in the history of the relations between science, politics and international relations in the twentieth century. (Institutional - 2003)

The Open Schools Programme is based on a culture of peace and nonviolence to promote the citizenship of adolescents, youngsters and the school community as a whole. 
It is an initiative in which several areas of the UNESCO mandate come together - an action for social inclusion that stimulates improvements in schools, cultural participation, increased awareness in regard to STD and AIDS prevention and care for the environment
